We didn't need much of anything from the supermarket this week.  The only thing I really wanted to grab while on sale was the new product by Silk - Fruit & Protein beverage.  I enjoy trying new "healthy" products, especially when I have awesome coupons.

The Catch:  You'll have to spend 90-minutes taking a guided tour and orientation of the property.  They don't say it specifically, but it kinda sorta sounds like it will be a timeshare presentation -- which is not so terrible, and not the end of the world when you consider what you'll get.  When was the last time you blew 90 minutes staring at the TV or stuck at an event you didn't care to be at?  Well, for 90 minutes, you'll get a great return - 62% savings.

Tip:  When I do these these "orientation" deals, I usually schedule it for the same day I arrive or right after breakfast the next morning.  That way, it is out of the way - and - I get to know all the ins and outs of the resort so I can take full advantage of everything offered.  It's so much better than finding out too late about some amenities, activities, or services I missed out on.

Today I picked up as part of my short & sweet visit to Publix 6 Tai Pei Asian entrees from the freezer section.  It wasn't until I was reviewing my register receipt at home that I noticed that the Publix coupon was deducting more than I expected.

• Bought 6 Tai Pei frozen entrees at $2.79 each, regular price = $16.74
• Used 6 Manufacturer coupons for $0.75 each from SS 10/2/11 = subtract $4.50 
• Used 2 Publix yellow advantage flyer coupons for Tai Pei, Buy 2 Get 1 Free = subtract $5.58

But here's the BONUS SAVINGS.  The Publix yellow advantage flyer coupons subtracted $3.69 each instead of $2.79, which is the actual cost of the items.  So that's like having a bonus (or third) coupon for 90¢ off 3 Tai Pei entrees.

Florida Double Coupon Stores - Not Illegal

Double Coupons In Florida, Yes They Do Exist.

I have recently read posts/articles around the web where people are commenting that it is illegal for stores to double in coupons in Florida.  Some even say that it has to do with the Truth-In-Lending Act ("TIL").  Well, the TIL is federal, which would mean that it would be illegal throughout the country.  

The following stores in Florida do indeed double coupons.  You can check directly with your store to find out if they participate, when, how, etc.  Some of these stores double coupons only on certain days of the week, month or year.  Other than Kmart, the stores listed can be found in Northern Florida.  Kmart is throughout Florida.

• Kmart - specially announced double coupon days.  Watch the ads (here's an example - Kmart's list of stores that doubled coupons in June 2011).

• Color that is deep red, dark red, or bright red.
• Skin that is smooth without pits and wrinkles.
• Green stems are good; brown stems and no stems is not.
• Sweetness.  Make sure you like the way they taste. 

Ask a Whole Foods associate for a taste before you select your plump, juicy, sweet organic cherries.  They are usually very nice about sampling items.

Publix Coupons: Not All Created Equal

Publix has been fine-tuning their coupon redemption policies lately.  Click here for Store Coupon Policies (Publix, CVS, Target, Walgreens)

There are two types of coupons in the Publix “Advantage” flyers and other special savings coupon pages and booklets (such as Stocking Spree and Summer of Savings) that come out at different times of the year and usually cover about 3 or 4 weeks.  Look for the 4 to 8-page slick/shiny paper flyers in your Sunday newspaper inserts and at Publix stores where the weekly ads are located.

One type is a manufacturer’s coupons (“MC”).  Same as any other MC, usually with a bar code and the words “Manufacturer’s Coupon” somewhere, as well as the word Publix somewhere.

The other type looks the same, except those are actual Publix “in-house” store coupons. They are the store coupons (“SC”) and currently *do not* display a bar code.  So when you are using one of the MCs, you *will not* be permitted to stack it another MC that you got from newspaper insert, food package, etc.   So, beware of this when you are coordinating your stacked coupon deals.
