I wasn't planning a Walgreens shop, but the sign outside lured me in "$2 for 2 Dozen Eggs".  Everything I bought was either on sale or clearance.  I try to keep my handy-dandy coupon bag in the car for moments such as this.  It usually has coupons for current sales that I am aware of at various stores, plus coupons for items that I keep an eye out for and grab when there is a good deal (such as the Blue Diamond Almonds BOGO)

$1 - New Tampax Radiant 16 ct. at Walgreen's - Low Low Cost

This new product in it's shiny hot pink-purple box is on shelves in Walgreen's now.  However, I found them with the wrong price on an end cap at the back of the store at $5.49 each.

The are advertised in the weekly flyer for $3.99 and will print out a $1 Register Reward from the Catalina machine at check-out.  A friend told me that there is a $2 off 1 Tampax Radiant package inside the box (look for note about coupons inside on the front of the box).  So when I got to the register, I asked the cashier if it would be okay if I opened the box now and took out the coupon, since I was buying th package either way.  She said sure.

Walgreens - What Order Should You Give Your Coupons To Cashier - Walgreens Coupon Policy

Want to save some extra $$ by giving your coupons to Walgreens cashier in a certain order?

First Things First:
Rain Checks should be given to cashier before scanning purchase items.

Last Things Last:
After all merchandise has been scanned, give your coupons in this order.  I usually try to hold them and give them to her in groups broken down in the following categories and order.  Sometimes a cashier will ask for them all at once.  If this happens and I believe my purchase may result in overage, I will say to the cashier something like 'I think this will work best if you scan the coupons in this order, or the register may beep.'  That usually works fine.

• 1. Store Coupons
• 2. Register Rewards
• 3. Manufacturer Coupons
• 4. AARP Card, if you or a family member have one.

I usually keep an eye on what is happening on the register display because things don't always ring up as I expect, so it is easy to get distracted from putting coupons in order. By using manufacturer coupons last any overage may end up being applied toward the tax -and- may help reduce the need to purchase filler items.  However, you should still have some filler items handy in case your overage is causing the register to beep.

IMPORTANT:  Don't forget, Walgreens will not allow more manufacturer coupons than there are items.  For details, see the Walgreens coupon policy.  So However, since I didn't do that, I ended up having to add filler items at the end of transactions (in this case it was newspaper and multiple M&M's on sale for 49¢)

TIP:  If you keep the categories of coupons separated and paper clipped, it is easier to get the cashier to scan them in the right order if he/she wants them all at once. 

TIP:  AARP card scan usually produces an extra Catalina coupon and sometimes a special Register Reward.  Example:  They recently had a promotion where a scan produced a $5 Register Reward store coupon.  This was not a manufacturer Register Reward, so there were fewer limitations on using it.  This week, at check-out, I have received an extra coupon for $2 of one Revlon beauty tool, which are perfect for the $1.49 nail file packages.  The overage bought a package of M&M's each time (on sale 49¢ this week)

• Net Paid:  $0.00 - Nothing - Zip - Nada (except tax, of course).  But not without a bit of a hassle, but only for me.  
• Because - ! LEARNING POINT !  It would have been better had I not purchased the 2nd Glide as part of Transaction #2, because of Walgreen's policy that they do not give you the advertised Register Rewards if you are using previously received Register Rewards to pay for the transaction.  So the bill originally came to $1.21 (w/o tax) - which would have been fine if the new $2 Register Reward would have printed.  Then I would be totally ahead by 79¢ and paid $0.00 for everything because the $2 I paid to start would have been made even by $2 RR's.  So I plan to return the Glide next time and get my $2 back.  Once I get them back, then I will have paid zero for all of this because I will surely use it another time.  Incidentally - $5 of the RR's I applied as payment came from a promo a few weeks ago where they just swiped my card and gave me $5 RR's that are NOT a manufacturer's coupon, so it could be used in any combination of coupons.
